Cancer Care
Finger Lakes Hematology and Oncology, located in Clifton
Springs, NY, is your center for comprehensive cancer
chemotherapy treatment of a broad array of cancers.
Based upon the diagnosis, the proper course of treatment
is determined for each individual, taking into account
each person’s unique characteristics and situation.
We work together with each patient to develop the
treatment plan. The typical administration of
the anti-cancer medicines is by the intravenous (in the
vein) route but some medications are taken orally or by
injection (shot).
Our nursing staff delivers expert care and support
during the entire course of treatment.
Clinical Trials
Advances in cancer treatment result from patient
participation in the research process. Clinical
trials are conducted to test new treatments for cancer
in order to find better ways to help cancer patients.
FLHO is affiliated with the University of Rochester
enabling us to participate in national cooperative
oncology group trials. For information on
clinical trials
currently offered at FLHO please discuss this option
with your oncologist or contact our clinical trials
coordinator at 315 462-1472.
Blood Disorder Care
In addition to their work as medical oncologists, our
doctors also practice hematology concentrating on both
malignant and non-malignant
diseases of the blood.
Diagnostic evaluation may include a bone marrow
examination. A treatment plan is established once
the diagnosis is known. FLHO treats chronic leukemias,
Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, Multiple
Myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, anemias,
myeloproliferative disorders and hemachromatosis.
Cancer Risk Assessment
FLHO offers counseling and testing for
cancer risk susceptibility. Currently genetic
testing exists for breast, ovarian, colon, and melanoma
cancers. Technology has made it possible to identify
those people who have inherited gene mutations which may
significantly increase their risk of developing one of
these cancers. These individuals with the help of
their doctor can then decide on a cancer
prevention/early detection program.
Cancer Survivor Care
We plan an extended period of observation for each
patient once active cancer treatment is completed.
Initially we schedule office visits and follow up tests
on a frequent basis and then extend the time interval as
the patient continues to do well.
Palliative Care
FLHO also provides palliative care which focuses on
control and relief of symptoms for patients with
advanced disease. We offer coordination of
care with Home Care\Community Health services and
Hospice Care.
Billing Services
FLHO’S expert
medical billing staff helps you understand your
insurance coverage and communicates with you every step
of the way. We participate with most
major insurance plans. Please
contact FLHO with questions about your specific
insurance needs.
